Finally home!
After living for 6 months in a torturous roommate situation, working two night shift jobs to pay off debt, and enduring another depressing Portland winter, I finally landed in Kentucky!! And, I've got 2 full weeks to go before nursing school...and the Kentucky Derby is coming up! The drive across the country took 6 days. Brandon towed a trailer with his pickup, and we went 65 the whole way. Big rigs passed us constantly. Most of the drive was flat, boring, and the food was crap. Once we reached Kansas City and St. Louis things started looking up. The rest of the way was rolling hills and lots of grass. I won't say it was "pretty" but hey-- last summer we were living in the Columbia River Gorge. There's probably nothing else that comes even CLOSE to the awe factor of that area. But, I still have hope that this summer will bring out the pretty in Kentucky. So far the people seem the same as anywhere. Some are asses, some are super cool. The only difference is a litt...
